Week 5

Where to begin… how about with the good stuff… I have lost 4 of the 6 lbs. I gained and am moving in the right direction. I have however come to the conclusion that I need someone to really push me and hold me accountable for my workouts, so I am enlisting the help of one of our personal trainers. My hope is that she will help me plan my weekly workouts in a scheduled format and she will kick my butt into shape. I can not do this by myself, so without having someone there to hold me accountable for my workouts, I will continue to use my work and personal schedule as an excuse for not doing what I need to do. This is so much harder than I thought and now that I have put myself out there for all to see my ups and downs, it is even more disappointing that I can’t seem to get on track. I remain optimistic and I am committed to seeing this through!

I am curious to know how many of you are doing the maintenance program and for those of you who are, how are you doing? I have not seen a lot of the faces I used to see during the Biggest Loser and I miss seeing those faces… it was a source of encouragement! Please email me and let me know how you are doing and if you are interested in a group workout, aerobics, or a hike. Allison and I will put something together for those of us who are interested. You can go to the Regional YMCA website and click on the Biggest Loser link and there is a link for “Doreen’s Blog”… you can email me from there or just put in note in my mail box at the front desk.

I am hopeful that my trainer will kick me into gear… if not I’m sure when I purchase my bathing suit for the summer, it will be motivation enough… ouch!

Have a great week and keep on moving!

Thank you,
Doreen

Week 3

I am skipping to week three…we had technical difficulties with our systems last week and I had emotional difficulties staying on track on week two…sorry! I am an emotional eater and let’s just say that week two was a major set back for me. I am embarrassed to say that I gained back 6 of the 15 lbs. I lost during the Biggest Loser! I realize that I am one of those people who need support systems and have called upon my Biggest Loser team to help me get back on track.

I was watching Oprah and it was about these amazing people who have lost a tremendous amount of weight and they did it without any pills or surgeries. The stories varied, but they all seemed to say it was one point that just changed it all for them.  Most had just started of by changing their eating habits and then after they had lost some weight and started to feel some control/will power they added exercise and have made a life change. It made me realize no matter how much you have to lose, it is a life change, and to trying to take it all on at once can be very difficult. I am working on the baby steps and hope to work on making the lifestyle adjustment that is needed. I am still struggling with getting the major workouts in and have not begun my strength training, but I am hopeful that I will find a way to make it work and will gradually make the change that is needed.

For those of you have stayed on track and continued to make that lifestyle change…I applaud you, keep up the good work! For those of you who have fallen off track and feel a little defeated…you are not alone, but it is important to recognize it and get back on track even if it is in small steps. Any improvement to your eating habits and exercise regiment is important, no matter how small.

Here’s to a better week! Keep moving and keep motivating!

Thank you,
Doreen

Week 1

Hello all! I want to thank those of you who are continuing on this journey to a healthier lifestyle and those of you who are our support system! What can I say about the roller coaster ride that I seem to take each week in my eating habits... I don't feel I eat really unhealthy, I just know I can eat better. My will power is lacking... hence, I have been in this shape for some time now.

Well, it is now time... I have my 20 Year High School Reunion... yes, I said 20! So, I could use all the help/support I can get. Along with my eating habits, I need to improve on my workouts. As you can see by this week I only focused on walking, so I want to switch it up this week. I will be meeting with Allison to figure out a workout that suits me. I also want to try different times to see which timeframes work out best with my schedule. With that, I need to choose a time that will ensure I get that workout in, no matter how busy my day looks. If you have any suggestions on what works for you, I would love to hear them.

I apologize for not getting this out in a timely manner and I will add that to my list of things to improve for the coming week! Have a wonderful and healthy week!

Thank you again,
Doreen
