Family Enrichment

Family Programs are a special time for families to have fun and create memories that last a lifetime. Families can enjoy participation in swimming, basketball, games, crafts, and much more. Check out some previous events the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut has held at the Greenknoll facility.

*An adult must accompany all children during all family programs (including swimming) unless stated.

Pre- registration by Thursday before the program is required for the programs listed below; contact the Member Service Desk at 203.775.4444.

Children’s New Year Party

(Ages 3-12)

Children can have a great time ringing in
the New Year! We will have fun games, crafts, photo station and music to add to the celebration. At noon, we will get crazy with a countdown. What a great way for kids to ring in the New Year!

Family Artist Night

(Ages 3-8)

Explore painting, drawing, cutting and gluing, collage and constructing with fun materials. Your little artist will have tons of fun creating and learning. Each child participating must register and a parent/adult must attend with child.

Family Walk to Kennedy Park Farmer’s Market

( All Ages )

Families in attendance will receive a Farmer’s Market coupon, water bottles and pedometers to walk to the Kennedy Park Farmer’s Market in Danbury to purchase fresh produce.

Going On A Turkey Hunt

(Ages 3‐10)

Thanksgiving is almost here, but where are all the turkeys gone? Can you help find them? Let’s spend an evening being TURKEY DETECTIVES as we track down those turkey footprints. We will make our own Thanksgiving craft, read a story, play some games, and have a Thanksgiving snack. GOBBLE, GOBBLE!!!

Healthy Kids Day®

( All Ages )

Nothing charges up kids like summer—and Healthy Kids Day® is the Y’s official start to the best summer ever!  So make sure your kids get the most they can out of this summer…in spirit, mind and body.  Everyone is welcome to enjoy the fun.  Let’s charge into the best summer ever together!

This event is FREE and open to the public!

Kids Night Out

(Ages 3-12)

You can enjoy night out while your children have a fun night participating in swimming, games, crafts and movie. A snack is provided.

Mad Hatter’s Tea

(Ages 3‐7)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Mothers and grandmothers – by royal decree the Queen of Hearts invites you and your special gal to attend a Mad Hatter’s Tea party. Join us down the rabbit hole for a fun afternoon of tea, treats, and a special craft.

Middle School Madness

(Grades 5-8)

The YMCA is staying open late so middle schoolers can take over! Our facility will be open exclusively to students in grades 5-8. Activities include swimming, open gym, basketball, and just a good old time.

Shamrock Shake

(Ages 2-10)

It’s a Bit O’Irish fun for children and their families. Join in making fun treats and leprechaun crafts. Each child must attend with an adult.

Spring Egg-Estravaganza

(Ages2-9)

Celebrate spring! Games, crafts, snack, story, and an egg hunt are all part of this fun-packed event. Bring a basket for the egg hunt.

Steppin’ Into Spring

(Ages 3‐7)

Do you hear the birds chirping? Do you see the daffodils blooming? Let’s welcome spring by enjoying an evening of making flowers, bunnies and other spring crafts. Then we will share a special snack, which you will make, and read a great story to get you ready to step into spring.

Trunk or Treat

( All Ages )

Come join the Regional YMCA for the annual Trunk or Teat event! People gather and park their cars, decorate their trunks, and pass out candy to families. We have judges and prizes for the best decorated cars!

Valentine Goodies

(Ages 4-6)

Calling all little cupids. Fly on over and make some special valentine treats for your family and friends. This class is sure to put love in your heart. Bring an apron!
