Healthy Lifestyles

Living healthy is about spirit, mind and body at every age and stage. The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut provides programs and activities that promote wellness, nutrition, and give you one-on-one support from our certified staff and personal trainers. We partner with local hospitals, health agencies and other organizations to provide people with greater support and resources for healthy lifestyles.

Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Policies (HEPA)

Higher Standards of Care

Be assured that at the YMCA, your children will have access to healthy choices. Kids thrive when their physical, cognitive and social-emotional development is nurtured. By creating more healthy choices, the Y’s Healthy Eating Physical Activity (HEPA) Standards lay the foundation for a positive youth development journey.

Ask your YMCA youth instructor how HEPA is implemented in your child’s school readiness or afterschool program. The Regional YMCA is a place where children GROW, THRIVE and LEARN.

Organized community event

Families in attendance will receive a Farmer’s Market coupon, water bottles and pedometers to walk to the Kennedy Park Farmer’s Market in Danbury to purchase fresh produce. If you are interested in getting your school or community involved contact Lisa O’Connor.

This summer program features garden to table cooking classes with a YMCA Registered Dietitian. The program is held at the Regional YMCA Children’s Center at Grassy Plain where our newly dedicated Gismondi Garden is plentiful. This program can be offered to community groups offsite.
