Specialty Summer Programs

Summer is a time for kids to be kids. At the Y our Specialty Summer Programs are a great way for young children ages 3-6 years old to explore and discover new interests. Children develop new friendships and have tons of fun in a safe environment. Programs run 3 days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Check out the upcoming 2021 Summer line-up of programs offered at the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut Greenknoll facility.

Mini Chefs

  • July 6-8
  • 9:30-11:30 AM

Healthy and Yummy recipes are introduced as children prepare and enjoy different food while learning about measuring, counting, sharing and more. A class cookbook will be given out at the end of the session. Due to the nature of this program and the facility, dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated.

Super Science

  • July 13-15
  • 9:30-11:30 AM

You are sure to have a great time and learn something in this hands on Science class. We will make concoctions, create chemical reactions, and conduct some real science experiments.

Superhero Academy

  • July 20-22
  • 9:30-11:30 AM

Superman, Spiderman, Elstagirl, Catwomen- oh my! Does your little one love superheroes? If so, this class is for him or her! Each day we will explore a different superhero with games, art and stories.

Little Gardner

  • July 27-29
  • 1:00-3:00 PM

Get your sunglasses and get ready for some fun in the sun. Do you like to play in the dirt? Do you ever wonder how things grow? Let’s plant some seeds and flowers and decorate a special flower pot. We will look at how plants grow and discover nature in this summer program.

Creative Artist

  • August 3-5
  • 9:30-11:30 AM

Children will explore their creative side by creating works of art while experimenting with various art forms. Be prepared to get messy!

Diggin Dinosaurs

  • August 10-12
  • 9:30-11:30 AM

Let’s dig up some dirt. What will we find? Come explore the land of pre-historic times. What kinds of things can we discover? You can learn a lot about the land before times as we explore the world of dinosaurs.

All Star Ninja

  • August 17-19
  • 2:00-4:00 PM

Test your agility, flexibility, strength and coordination on our specially designed obstacle course. There will be a Ninja Challenge at the last class. Can you beat the clock, complete the course and be an All-Star Ninja?
