THE REGIONAL

YMCA OF WESTERN CT

The YMCA Values All

Today’s headlines and top stories are concerning for all Americans. Many of us are experiencing stress, fear, frustration and uncertainty. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Floyd family at this difficult time.

Over the past week, non –violent protesters felt the need to express themselves, and rightly so.  The chants of “Enough is Enough, Black Lives Matter and No Justice – No Peace is ringing true to so many Americans and we now have a choice of which way we turn.   But there is one thing that is obvious, change is needed.

The YMCA has always been an organization that values “all” and has been a part of the communities across the country for 165 years.  Our values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility have guided us in the work that we do every day.  We value everyone’s opinion and every voice is heard and above all everyone is respected equally.

What is important now is that the youth of today, no matter the color of their skin, see us do what is right. Then they will know that the collective voices that are demanding change have been heard.  A difference was made by speaking up for what is right.

Our YMCA movement, all 2500 Y’s across the country believes that the work we are doing is for “A Better Us”.  We are here because we embrace the responsibility to help every person thrive, to empower youth, improve health and strengthen our communities.  But most of all we truly believe that we are “Better Together”.

Respectfully,

Marie B. Miszewski
